Belarusians donate 5 times more than needed for Svetlana Alexievich’s edition

The crowdfunding campaign aimed at publishing Svetlana Alexievich’s five-volume edition has raised 5 times more money than needed. The organizers of wanted to raise 40 thousand roubles. As of April 12, 216 thousands have been donated. There are 8 days until the end of the campaign.
Most of the sum (150 thousand roubles) has been donated by Belgazprombank.
The crowdfunding campaign was launched by the bookstore Lohvinau. They are planning to start printing the books soon, editor Ihar Lohvinau said:
“We are planning to print 5 thousand copies and are choosing the printing house now,” Lohvinau said. “The books will definitely be sent to Belarusian libraries. Belgazprombank will be responsible for the delivery. The bank will take the printrun and organize presentations in all Belarusian regions.”
The project ‘Voices of Utopia’ consists of five Svetlana Alexievich’s books that will be out in the Belarusian language without censorship for the first time. This campaign has become the biggest crowdfunding campaign in Belarus.
