Journalist Alyaksandr Alesin not charged
He can be named a witness in the case of espionage. Investigation is more interested in the other person detained.
The KGB detainee, journalist of Belarusy i Rynak (Belarusians and Market) Alyaksandr Alesin can be named a witness in the espionage case. This is what Alesin's children told Radio Liberty. They referred to the call from the KGB, which occurred on the afternoon of 8 December.
"We got a call saying that father had not been charged. They said that investigators are more interested not in the father, but in the person with whom he was in the cafe. The man is being suspected of espionage, and their father was with him. Currently, their status is being determined. We hope that in the end they will not charge him," Radio Liberty quoted Alyaksandr Alesin's children.
There is still no official information on the detention of Alesin.
Alyaksandr Alesin is an economic analyst of the newspaper Belarusy i Rynak (Belarusians and Market), he specializes in military intelligence. Information about his detention by KGB appeared on 4 December. His is allegedly suspected of 'treason and espionage'.
