Karsten, Makarov and Nesterenko eye Olympics in London?

Almost all of Belarus's famous athletes are preparing for the next Olympic Games, the European Radio for Belarus has learned. It is known exactly that only gymnastics athlete Ina Zhukava and Elina Zvereva (hammer throwing) have finished their careers. Both of them will remain in sports as coaches. The rest of Belarus's sport stars dream about London, despite their age.

However, Barys Kryshtanovich, the executive director of the Belarusian Federation of Athletics, is careful about their dreams. He says the lists of candidates will be drawn up in the course of the year. Possibly, the whole athletics team will be changed:

"We will possibly have the whole team changed for four years. We have very perspective youngsters who can grow into good athletes within the next four years".

Katsyaryna Karsten who has won medals at all the Olympics since 1992 plans to take part in her sixth Olympic Games if there is no bolt from the blue, according to Tamara Dulub, the state coach of the canoeing federation:

"Katsya says that if there is no bolt from the blue, she will take part in the 2012 Olympics. She is now in the training".

According to coaches from the judo federation, Igar Makarov who won gold at the Olympic Games in Athenes, will also continue to perform. He did not make it to Beijing but dreams to qualify for London.

But gymnastics athlete Ina Zhukava does not plan perform in London and wants to become a coach.

Weight-lifter Andrei Rybakov who broke the world record but did not win the gold also plans to perform at the Olympics in London.

Athene's Olympic champion Yulia Nesterenko does not says anything about London yet, but she told the Evening Brest newspaper she was in training to prepare for the summer world athletics championship in Berlin.
