KGB chairman confirms Yauhen Baskin's detention
KGB Chairman Valry Vakulchyk on March 15 confirmed the detention of prominent businessman Yauhen Baskin. Reports about the detention of the owner and CEO of Servolux group of companies appeared in the mortning of March 15.
According to Vakulchyk, CFO and other company employees were detained together with the businessman. A total of 15 employees of Servolux and Ecomol Agro companies were detained on suspision of large-scale tax evasion. Just during one day, investigators calculated the losses worth of 370 billion, reports BelaPAN. Baskin tried to flee the country but was detained at the airport.
The headquarters of Servolux group of companies are located in Mahilou. Detentions took place on Monday in the afternoon. The detainees were transported to Minsk.
Servolux is the bigget poulty products producer in Belarus. Baskin was in Top 6 of the most successful business people in Belarus, according to the ranking of Ezhednevnik newspaper.
