Lukashenka on lifting of sanctions: Well done, EU!
Aliaksandr Lukashenka has commented on the abolition of most of the EU sanctions in force against Belarus. At a meeting on measures to improve the effectiveness of social and economic situation, the head of state said that the Belarusian authorities are totally satisfied with the EU Council's decision.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs has to thank his colleagues for the adoption of such a decision, BELTA quoted Lukashenka. EU did well, it realized that there is a moment in time and it is necessary to deviate from this bloc mentality and confrontation with Belarus".
The head of the Belarusian instructed the Council of Ministers to intensify work with a variety of banking institutions of the European Union, with the potential investors. Aliaksandr Lukashenka emphasized that our country is open for this.
As was reported by Euroradio, sanctions were removed from 170 individuals and three companies. Aliaksandr Lukashenka and other officials are now able to travel to EU countries. Sanctions continue to apply only in respect of the four persons whom the EU believes to have been implicated in the disappearance of the opposition in Belarus.
