Lukashenka's aide appointed 'in charge' of Belarus internet
Usevalad Yancheuski is now responsible for the state's policy in the field of informatization and high technologies, according to president's edict.
Among other things, Yancheuski will coordinate in the framework of his competence the operation of the mass media that disseminate information via television broadcasting and the internet. This decision is set out in Belarus president's edict # 531. The full text is available on the National Legal Portal of Belarus website.
The edict also sets out that Usevalad Yancheuski coordinates the activity of the state authorities and organizations in the spheres of informatization, information and communication technologies, telecommunications and high technologies. He is also empowered to issue necessary orders in the framework of his competence and to make sure his orders are executed. The competence of Chief Ideological Department head at the Office of the President now also includes the approvall of legal acts and investment projects in the above-mentioned spheres, Interfax-West reports.
