Sport ministry reveals bonuses for PyeongChang 2018 Olympic medal winners

The sum of the prize money awarded by the state to Olympic medal winners has not changed since the last Olympic Games. The state will pay sportsmen $150 thousand for a gold medal, $75 thousand for a silver medal and $50 thousand for a bronze medal, Belarus Olympic mission chief Alyaksandr Baraulya announced at the press conference 100 days before the kick of the 2018 Olympic Games.
"Paralympians’ rewards will be smaller – 50, 30 and 20 thousand dollars, correspondingly,” the official added.
Belarusians have 45 candidates in 6 Olympic sports: biathlon, freestyle, speed skating, short track, alpine skiing and cross country ski race. “We have 10 licenses in biathlon: 5 for men and 5 for women,” TUT.by quotes Baraulya as saying. “If the qualification results were announced today, 11 more athletes be in this pull. We expect to get 7 licenses in freestyle, 2 – in alpine skiing, 6 – in cross country ski race, 2-4 in speed skating and 1-2 in short track.”
It means that there will be about 30 athletes in the Belarusian delegation. They are planning to set off for South Korea on January 27 to spend a few days getting ready for the Olympic Games there. The 2018 Winter Olympics will start in PyeongChang on February 9.
