Lukashenka dodges social networks
President Aliaksandr Lukashenka has no plans to promote his personal accounts on social media.
Press Secretary of the Belarusian president Natallia Eysmant said that there are no plans to launch Alyaksandr Lukashenka's page in social networks in the near future.
The news that Alyaksandr Lukashenka has got an official account in Instagram was published on April 1 by newspaper Nasha Niva. BelaPAN decided to check this information. However, Natallia Eysmant stated that the President of Belarus has no accounts in social networks. "Press Service did not launch any page of the president anywhere. They do appear, and I know about it. In fact, I do not think it is a strange fact, because pages of famous people, ranging from pop stars and famous politicians, are not uncommon," said the spokesperson of the Belarusian president.
According to Eysmant, Lukashenka's press service will not launch his page on the social networks any time soon. But over time, this policy may change. Although, she said, the head of Belarus even without social networking is quite open and active.
