PACE prolongs Russia sanctions and points at Russian troops in Donets Basin
The territory of the Antiterrorist Operation ‘is controlled by pro-Russia separatists and Russian troops’, PACE says.
PACE adopted a resolution criticizing Russia’s actions in East Ukraine at a meeting in Strasbourg. Russia has not progressed in fulfilling the demands of the Parliamentary Assembly and the Council of Europe since six month ago, PACE members noted.
Regular Russian troops are present in Donets Basin, PACE admitted. The ATO territory ‘is controlled by pro-Russia separatists and Russian troops’, Radio Liberty reports.
PACE members condemned the attacks on Debaltsevo, Maryinka and Mariupol. They blamed Russia for it. The resolution demands that Russia removed all its troops from Ukraine and released the captives jailed in Russia (namely, Nadezhda Savchenko).
128 MPs voted pro and only 11 – contra.
