Protests in Minsk against Belarus-Russia integration

Nearly 1000 people gathered in downtown Minsk on Saturday to demonstrate against the so-called 'deeper integration' between Belarus and Russia.
Initially, protesters tried to line up a 'live chain' of people standing along the Independence Avenue from the Main Post Office to the Minsk Circus. They later gathered in the central Kastryčnickaja Square, with the crowd chanting “Independence! Independence!” and “Long Live Belarus!,” displaying signs “No to Integration!” and “This is not Integration, This is Occupation!”
The uniformed and plainclothes police agents did not interfere in the rallies, which continued for some four hours in the city center. Drivers on the nearby streets made sound signals in a sign of solidarity with the demonstrators.
People are expected to return to Kastryčnickaja Square at noon on Sunday to continue protests against integration with Russia.
