5 FEMEN protesters face criminal charges
Five FEMEN activists face criminal prosecution for rushing topless at Germany 's Angela Merkel and Russia's Vladimir Putin at Hannover trade fair on Monday
The protesters broke throught the cordnon stripped down and shouted out obscene slogans (the slogans were also written on their bodies). The activists were detained by security agents.
Euroradio reported earlier a criminal case was started against the activists in Germany. RIA Novosti clarifies that the case was started under
Article 103 in German Penal Code ("Insult of state authorities and
representatives of foreign states") against five female activists aged 18-33: two Germany nationals, two from Ukraine and one Russian citizen. They have already
been interrogated by criminal investigators.
There's hope that the case may be terminated if the affected party wants so.
Neither Putin nor Merkel has expressed their wishes so far. However, the
Russian President told reporters at a news conference that he actually enjoyed Femen's
action (see video).
