Taras Avatarau’s trial is resumed in Minsk
Taras Avatarau, a Belarusian who fought in the ATO zone in Ukraine, is standing trial in Minsk. He was detained at Minsk railway station last November. The detention was shown on all state TV channels. The 28-year-old inhabitant of Navapoaltsk was suspected of having a whole arsenal of weapons on him. However, his gun was only a flare gun. A grenade is mentioned in the case papers now.
Avatarau is accused of contraband (part2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). He is standing trial in Minsk Frunze District Court. Witnesses were interrogated there last week. The prosecutor is expected to change Taras Avatarau’s charges.
