Tennis: Victoria Azarenka into Brisbane quarterfinals

Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the World No.22, has made it to Brisbane quarterfinals. She easily defeated Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure (World no.170)— 6:3, 6:2. Italian Roberta Vinci (No. 15) will be Victoria’s rival on January 7.

Azarenka was supposed to compete with Simona Halep (World No.2) in the second round. However, Halep withdrew from the tournament due to a leg trauma. The Belarusian was not let to pass to the third circle automatically – Halep was replaced with Bonaventure who had not taken part in the first round.
