Ukrainian president in US seeking support
Ukraine's Petro Poroshenko makes a speech in the Congress during his visit to the United States.
It is inadmissible to leave Ukraine alone with the Russian aggression and the country needs the United States’ support now, he noted. The Ukrainian president has asked the Congress to confirm the special ‘safety’ status in Ukraine and added that his country does not want to win the war, it only wants peace, Radio Liberty reports.
Poroshenko called the annexation of Crimea ‘one of the most cynical examples of treachery in the contemporary history ’. He urged the USA to impose more sanctions on Russia and called the eastern neighbor an aggressor.
He is ready to discuss everything that may help establish peace except for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity, Poroshenko noted.
