World Day for Decent Work in Mahilyou: no pickets allowed
The picket was supposed to be held in the place that used to be available for actions during the recent parliamentary election campaign.
Mahilyou authorities have not allowed the picket dated for the World Day for Decent Work. The refusal was signed by deputy head of Mahilyou City Executive Committee Ala Halushka.
The independent Trade Union of Metal Workers organized sthe picket. The action was supposed to be held in the centre of the city (Lenin Street, 27) on October 7. The organizers wanted to draw attention to the worsening legal state of workers.
There is one place for mass events in Mahilyou, the city ideologist replied. It is in the outskirts of the city – in the stadium Himik (Chalyuskintsau Street, 64V).
Oppositionists with posters and white-red-white flags could organize pickets without any problems in Lenin Street a month ago. It looks like Mahilyou authorities are planning to oust all the dissatisfied to the outskirts again.
