Ukraine: Yuliya Timoshenko to run for president
Ukraine's former prime minister Yuliya Timoshenko says she will run for president.
"I am planning to run for President of Ukraine. I will officially ask Batkivshchina to propose me on March 29,” she said.
Yuliya Timoshenko used to be Ukrainian PM. However, she lost the position when Victor Yanukovich came to power and was imprisoned for ‘betraying Ukraine’s state interests’ later. Timoshenko was released only after Yanukovich had fled from the country at the end of February.
Yuliya Timoshenko’s companions occupy most of the key position in Ukraine now. Acting PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk and President Turchinov are among them. Nevertheless, billionaire Petro Poroshenko has the highest chance to win the presidential election now, sociologists say. The election will be held on May 25.
