Baumgertner not allowed to meet with Russian diplomats today
The meeting has been postponed till next week.
Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner was arrested in Minsk in late August, spent a month in the KGB prison and now stays under the house arrest at a rented apartment in Minsk.
There are two versions on why the meeting was postponed. 'He (Baumgertner) contacted us and asked to postpone the meeting till the next week without any explanations,' RIA Novosti quotes as Russian Consul in Belarus Igor Koryagin says. However, Koryagin has said in a comment to Interfax-West that the meeting was re-scheduled upon the plea of 'competent authorities'. He didn't clarify the reasons but noted it was 'the initiative of Belarusian investigators'.
On Thursday, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Alyaksandr Kanyuk said he thought Baumgertners' extradition to Russia possible.
