Freedom Day rally scheduled for 15:00 on week day.
The organizers regret that officials approved the inconvenient time. They planned to gather the protesters two hours later.
Minsk city executive committee has authorized the march and rally dedicated to Freedom Day on March 25. Organizers planned to hold it in the evening, but officials made their adjustments.
Here's what chairman of the BPF Party Alyaksei Yanukevich told Euroradio:
"Minsk city executive committee moved the time to 15.00 (previously scheduled for 17:00 hours - Euroradio). Naturally, it is less convenient. People who work will not be able to attend the event. It is a pity. But we still urge people who have the opportunity to attend, who have the opportunity, to take part in the event."
Thus, the gathering of participants is scheduled for three o'clock in the afternoon at the Kastrychnik cinema in Minsk. The rally will be held in the park of Friendship of Peoples from 17.00 to 18.00.
Yanukevich recalls the last year's campaign, which is considered successful (according to various estimates of the independent media, there was from 1,000 to 3,000 people). The same number of participants is expected at the rally on Freedom Day 2015.
"There will be nothing fundamentally different," reveals the concept of the upcoming rally Yanukevich. The main topics to be raised are protection of the independence and peace, solidarity with the people of Ukraine."
On March 25, 1918, in Minsk was proclaimed the state independence of the Belarusian People's Republic. It was, in fact, the first of our national government. Calling the BPR a fully independent state is difficult, but that's when a small fire of the Belarusian independence broke out. It is questionable that the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic would appear, but for the event of March 25, 1918.
The organizers of the Freedom Day 2015 understand that the value and meaning of the rally today is not understood by all Belarusians.
"But many people are really concerned about violence and war breaking out in our country, emphasizes Yanukevich. Only an independent state can protect the peace today. Today, we see that many Belarusians understand practical importance for the fate of their independence and their children."
