Memorial opposition rally in Kurapaty - in pictures
The opposition Conservative Christian Party of Belarusian Popular Front on Sunday October 30 organized the march to Kurapaty, the site in the suburbs of Minsk where Stalin's security forces executed thousands in the late 1930s. The rally is traditionally timed with Dziady, the holiday to remember the dead anscestors. The action was authorized by the Minsk authorities.
About 150 people participated in the demonstration, many of them carrying white-red-white national flags. The participants mounted new crosses in Kurapaty where a memorial rally was held.
