Racing cyclist Kiryyenka: I did not fall off my bicycle during Olympic race
Belarusian racing cyclist Vasil Kiryyenka has refuted the information about him falling off his bicycle during the group race at Rio Olympics. He withdrew due to a technical failure, the sportsman said.
“I did not fall down and my arm is not injured. I do not understand why mass media have distributed such information. I was not planning to compete for medals in that race. I stake on individual races and I said it earlier. I was working for Kanstrantsin Siutsou but had to withdraw 20 km earlier than I had planned because my bicycle got broken down,” the website of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee quotes Kiryyenka.
It has also been also reported that some other sportsman was in the photo distributed by mass media.
Another Belarusian participant of the race, Kanstantsin Siutsou, took the 49th place at the race.
