Russian MPs want to impose tax on borrowed words in ads
The corresponding bill has been sent to the State Duma.
A tax on using Latin letters and borrowed words in advertisements may be imposed. Russian companies ‘compromise the respect for the Russian language by using them,’ the authors of the bill believe.
The bill On Advertising appeared in the data base of the State Duma on Wednesday. It was created by members of the CPRF, United Russia and LDPR. They suggested imposing a tax ‘on the usage of Latin letters and borrowed words in trademarks’, RBK reports.
According to the bill, the new rule may be applied to companies and private entrepreneurs registered in Russia. The sum of the tax will be decided by the government. The authors suggested taking the income of legal entities and private entrepreneurs into account.
