Third criminal case started against website “Charter’97”
Minsk City Office of the Public Prosecutor has started a criminal case against the website charter97.org. The data found on PCs confiscated 10 months ago was a reason for it. A journalist of the website Natallya Radzina has informed Euroradio about it:
Radzina: “I phoned to ask Minsk City Office of the Public Prosecutor about our office equipment they had confiscated 10 months before and were not going to return. They told me that they had started a criminal case on the basis of the data found on our PCs. They refused to comment on the case and informed me that the third check-up of our computers would be conducted in connection with it”.
Radzina thinks that the new criminal case started against “Charter’97” is aimed at exercising pressure on journalists and that it is an attempt to hinder their work before the election.
Let us remind you that eight PCs were confiscated from the office of “Charter’97” 10 months ago. The flats of journalists Svyatlana Kalinkina, Maryna Koktysh and Iryna Halip were searched and their PCs were also confiscated.
