Uralkali CEO jailed in Moscow
He was delivered from Belarus on Thursday night.
Official representative of the Federal Penal Service Kristina Belousova told journalists about it, RIA Novosti reports.
Vladislav Baumgertner was detained at a Minsk airport after his meeting with Belarusian PM Mihail Myasnikovich on August 26. The Uralkali CEO did damage to Belarus’ national interests, the Belarusian Investigation Committee said. Baumgertner was accused of power and authority abuse. The Belarusian Potash Company lost $100 million due to it, the Investigation Committee claimed. The charges were changed later and the Uralkali CEO is suspected of a theft now.
Baumgertner spent a month in KGB prison in Belarus and was put under house arrest in Minsk later. His case papers sent to Russia consisted of 19 volumes. Russia sent an extradition request to Belarus at the end of October.
