Belarusian Partisan: Belarus agents tried to capture BPC manager in Moscow

Four men in plain clothes reportedly approached the ex-manager of the Belarusian Potash Company Ihar Yeustratau while he was boarding a Saint Petersburg-bound train. One of the men produced an ID stating he was a member of the Belarusian secret service. The Belarusians made sure that it was Yeustratau and forced him to get off the train. They were leading him out of Leningrad railway station.  

But the manager started shouting, alerting a Russian police patrol nearby. The Russian policement reacted quickly and the whole group had to proceed to the nearest police station. The four Belarusians turned out to be member of the Belarusian national security service KGB who were not allowed to perform operational activities on the Russian territory.

The Belarusians did not want to give Ihar Yeustratau away to the Russian policemen. However, the lawyers who arrived managed “to save” the manager, Belarusian Partisan reports.

Uralkali CEO Vladimir Baumgertner was detained in Minsk at the end of August. He was invited to Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich. He had spent a month in a KGB prison before he was moved under house arrest in a Minsk safehouse later.

Belarusian investigators stared a criminal case against Mr Baumgertner and several other managers of the Belarusian Potash Company including Ihar Yeustratau who like some of other top managers had managed to leave Belarus for Russia.
