Syarhei Vaznyak: personal approach to every accused
An activist of the “Tell the Truth!” campaign Syarhei Vaznyak has commented on Ales Mihalevich’s statement about tortures in KGB prison for Euroradio on air.
"I did not go through any physical torture. Speaking about it, I cannot blame investigators and employees of the detention centre for anything. On the other hand, the prison conditions were very hard. The fact that six people were kept in a cell for two could be considered a violation of the international standards and could probably be called a torture. However, it was not personal, the other prisoners felt just as bad as I did”, - said Vaznyak.
Speaking about prison conditions, he agreed that Mihalevich had touched upon a very important issue: the conditions should be improved.
Vaznyak stressed that KGB had not suggested cooperation or public condemnation of opposition leaders to him. “They must have a different approach to every accused”, - he noted.
