Will presidential administration's head make "a political decision"?
The Political Council of the United Pro-Democracy Forces (UDF) is holding a meeting in Minsk. In his speech, Siarhei Kaliakin, the leader of the Party of Communists, said that Uladzimir Makei, the head of presidential administration, should take a "political decision" about including UDF representatives in regional elections commission. Belapan news agency reminds that on August 27 UDF sent an appeal to Makei proposing to discuss the course of the election campaign.
Kaliakin said the fact that UDF representatives were not allowed to enter the election commissions could be a sufficient groung not to recognise the upcoming parliamentary elections both domestically and by international organizations. He stressed that UDF members accounted for only 0.05 percent of seats in the electoral commissions.
"Removing pro-democracy representatives from the vote count is proof that the authorities do not wish to hold transparent and fair elections", said Siarhei Kaliakin.
