Air marshals aboard all Egypt-bound Belavia flights
Belarusian international airlines Belavia did not suspend flights to Egypt after the fatal crash of the Russian А321 over Sinai. Belavia told tut.by that Egypt-bound flights are operated normally but additional security measures were introduced. Following the Russian airliner's crash, all planes flying to Egypt have air marshals aboard. Previously, they were introduced randomly.
On October 31, the Russian passenger jet А321 with 224 people aboard disintegrated above Sinai. The majority of the passengers were Russian nationals. The list of victims also included one Belarusian.
On November 6, Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered to suspend flights to Egypt until the cause of the A321 crash was established. On November 17, Russian security service FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov said a terror attack was behind the crash.
On November 17, Reuters reported quoting its sources that two Sharm-al-Sheikh airport staff were detained in Egypt on suspicion of terrorism in connection with the Russian А321 crash.
