George Orwell's '1984' no longer sold in Hrodna
George Orwell's antiutopia "1984"
Hrodna bookstores have withdrawn from sale George Orwell's anti-utopia novel "1984," writes the local telegram channel 'hrodnalike'. This information was confirmed to reporters in bookstores "Ranitsa" and "Prometheus".
Private bookstores did not receive such an order, the OZ bookstore reports.
Earlier, it emerged that the authorities had ordered to remove Orwell's novel from bookstores until May 19. The oldest Belarusian newspaper, declared extremist, reported that it had received a copy of the relevant document.
Journalists from another news portal did not get this confirmed by bookstores in Minsk. However, the "Svetach" bookstore representatives in Minsk said that if such an order appeared, it could be executed very quickly.
