MFA recommends Belarusian tourists to stay away from Egypt
The Belarusian Ministry for Foreign Affairs recommends tourists to refrain from making visits to Egypt after several countries, including Russia, have moved to suspend air connections with this northern African nation amid avitation security concerns in Egypt's airports.
The foreign policy agency also advises citizens of Belarus to pay attention to the adjustments of the flight schedule of Russian airlines to Egypt and follow possible decisions by Belarusian national flag carrier Belavia about its flights there.
Euroradio reported earlier that on Friday the Russian authorities suspended flights to Egypt until the cause of the A321 crash killing 224 people has been established. Russia has begun to evacuate Russian tourists from Egypt. Belarus' officials hope the Russians can also evacuate the tourists from Belarus (it is not clear how many Belarusian tourists are stranded there). Several Belarusian travel operators have suspended the sales of tours to Egypt departing from Moscow. Meanwhile, Belavia has not taken decision to suspend flights to Egypt. Officials from the Aviation Department at the Ministry of Transport of Belarus will hold a meeting on Monday to discuss the situation.
