Signature collection starts in Belarus today
Presidential contenders need signatures to become candidates. 8 initiative groups have been registered.
The signature collection campaign will start in Belarus on July 23. The CEC has registered eight initiative groups: President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, leader of the party of the left Fair World Syarhei Haidukevich, leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka, representative of the coalition People’s Referendum Tatstsyana Karatkevich, unemployed Zhanna Ramanouskaya, Cossack chieftain and leader of the Belarusian Patriotic Party Mikalai Ulahovich and economist Victar Tsyareshchanka.
They will have to collect at least 100 thousand signatures in a month (until August 21). The CEC will decide who can be registered.
The presidential election is appointed for October 11.
