Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus, Archbishop Gabor Pinter was granted a private audience with Pope Francis to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations between Vatican and Belarus, Vatican Radio's Belarusian Service reports

Archbishop Angelo Becciu, Holy See's Substitute of the Secretary of State, was also present at the meeting.

Gabor Pinter described relations between Belarus and Vatican as perfect but admitted there were 'some issues that are yet to addressed.'

The pontiff's possible visit to Belarus was discussed at the meeting as well. Commenting on the results of his meeting, Pinter said: "We are working hard to make this visit happen. I would like to ask everyone to pray for it, because the situation is not ideal yet. We hope this moment will come soon. Everyone is willing this to happen. All of us are willing this to happen."

The hierarch added the Pope impressed him with his profound knowledge of the situation in Belarus.

"The Pope is well aware of the situation in Belarus. Of course, I knew about it as we talked after my appointment last year, and I had an opportunity to see that he knows the things well. This time, however, I was impressed with his profound knowledge. He has been closely following the developments in Belarus," said the Apostolic Nuncio.
