Verifying "Anti-fake" on Belarus TV: How close is Finland's NPP to Lithuania?
"Anti-fake" show on Belarusian state TV channel ONT
The latest 1 December edition of the "Anti-Fake" show on the Belarusian state TV channel ONT was devoted to the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the statements by Lithuanian politicians. The program focused on the "Belarus-Lithuania-Finland triparty" talks over the construction of the nuclear power plant.
The program host Dzmitry Semchanka notes that Lithuania has no questions for the Finns who are preparing to build a Russian-designed nuclear power station in Hanhikivi "not far from the Lithuanian border":
"It means that somehow they do not doubt the safety of the Finnish power plant, which is also located not far from the Lithuanian border."
The fact is that Hanhikivi is "only" 900 km off the Lithuanian border and slightly more than 1000 km from the capital city of Vilnius - a similar distance between Minsk and Prague. The Belarusian nuclear power plant in Astraviec is situated just 20 km off Lithuania and 50 km from the Lithuanian capital.
What kind of dimension is "not far" as understood by the ONT host? Is Moscow far away or close? Or St Petersburg? It is actually located "only" 700 km from Minsk and also is home to a nuclear power plant.
Judging by the ONT terms, is the nuclear power plant in St Petersburg "not far" from the Belarusian border?
