Pershamaiski Street may be renamed to Frunze Street in Minsk and the latter may be named after people’s writer of Belarus Vasil Bykau (1924-2003), head of the Belarusian Union of Writers Mikalai Charhinets said in a rare pro-Belarusian national identity promotion move.
A monument to Bykau should also appear in the capital, he added. It may be installed at the crossing of Byaduli and Kazlou Streets, near the Mir cinema house. Charhinets supports these ideas but cannot say when the projects will be realized, Radio Liberty reports.
The Writer’s House is situated in Frunze Street.
