Minsk hopes EU will reconsider policy towards Belarus
This was stated by Belarus Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna.
Belarus authorities are hoping that the EU will revise its policy toward our country. It is what Belarus Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna said in an interview with the Slovenian newspaper The Slovenia Times. She expressed hope that the EU will contribute to "the strengthening of the economic dimension of our independence through access to the resources of the European financial institutions" as well as support Belarus in joining the World Trade Organization.
In the interview, Ms Kupchyna recalled that our country had been under Western sanctions "for almost 20 years." But despite this, Belarus "is developing dynamically and in many ways is the leader among the Eastern neighbors of the EU." According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the only negative effect of the sanctions is a decline in confidence in the European Union as a partner, as well as lost opportunities for cooperation.
