Russian Embassy in Minsk / TASS
Russia plans to erect a monument to Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky in Minsk this year. This was announced by Russian Ambassador Boris Gryzlov. He added that the idea was supported by Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
According to the diplomat, it will be a large equestrian sculpture. The height of the monument together with the pedestal will be 11 meters.
It has been decided to place the monument at the crossroads of Navavilenskaya and Staravilensky Streets. The Russian Embassy and the Palace of Children and Youth are located in the same area.
Alexander Nevsky has nothing to do with the history of Belarus, except that his wife was Aliaksandra - daughter of the Bryachislav Vasilkovich of Polatsk.
